The story behind

The painter Xavier de Poret has cultivated his love of horses and drawing since childhood. Riding boots, military boots or boots with cuffs – his scarf design restores the life, suppleness and patina to their leather in this lively composition inspired by one of his watercolors in the Émile Hermès collection. The pair of boots belonging to Colonel Baron de Verly, who commanded Napoleon III's Cent-gardes Squadron, and the silhouette of a red frock coat complete this intimate design, evoking the wardrobe of an elegant horseman or perhaps the artist's studio.
