The story behind
Designed by Alfred de Dreux and then adopted by Hermès, which made it its emblem, the Petit Duc presides over this silk scarf, whose fine detailing on the reverse side enhances the precision of the lines. Using technical documents from the period, Christian Renonciat studied the secrets of its construction to recreate the graceful carriage from every angle with the precision of an engineer. And to complete this perfect reconstruction, he gives us, in the text, all the finer details of the component parts. Pincer springs, a linchpin, a spoked wheel made of ash and hornbeam… Guided by elegance, the art of wheelwrights and coachbuilders was at its peak in the first half of the 19th-century.
