JEWELRY CARE RECOMMENDATIONS
Hermès Jewelry
Thank you for purchasing an Hermès jewelry piece. Hermès jewelry is crafted with the utmost care and each piece is an expression of exceptional quality. The pieces stand out for their contemporary lines, their unique design and the ingenuity of their shapes. To preserve their beauty and longevity over the years, please read and adhere to the following care instructions.
CARING FOR HERMÈS JEWELRY
Precious metals and natural stones are sensitive to their environment. As a general rule, we recommend the following pieces of advice. Remove your jewelry before any activity which may risk damaging it (exercise, swimming, household activities such as gardening or cleaning, etc.). Avoid direct contact with perfumes and cosmetics, as well as with chlorinated and salt water (if your jewelry should come into contact with any of these substances, gently rinse your jewelry in clean, room temperature water and dry it with a soft, clean cloth).
Do not expose your jewelry to extreme heat, as temperature fluctuations can cause irreversible damage to the stones. When not in use, store each piece of jewelry separately in its individual case or in separate pouches, away from humidity and intense heat. Clasps should be fastened and chains laid flat as to prevent knots.
SILVER
Since the launch of its very first jewelry creations in 1927, Hermès has shown great expertise in working with silver. Often showcasing larger and more voluminous pieces, Hermès silver jewelry combines an assertive style with utmost perfection. It sets itself apart thanks to a process known as “silvering”, in which each piece is finished using a thin layer of pure silver: a final touch to enhance the shine and beauty of this precious metal.
Bringing your silver to life
The more you wear your Hermès silver jewelry, the less care it requires! Regularly wearing your silver jewelry not only slows down the metal’s natural tendency to oxidize, but over time it allows the silver to acquire a unique patina, acting as a signature of your shared history.
In the event of oxidation
To preserve its shine, your silver jewelry needs regular attention. It is important to protect it from humidity and intense heat. In the event that your silver jewelry begins to show fingerprints or becomes slightly tarnished, buff it gently with a soft, clean cloth.
If your jewelry becomes further tarnished or oxidizes completely, we invite you to bring it to an Hermès store, where we will be delighted to provide you with a thorough cleaning of your piece.
GOLD AND PLATINUM
Hermès uses 18-carat gold in three colors: rose, yellow and white gold. Platinum is a naturally white precious metal that does not oxidize and is particularly well-suited to diamond jewelry.
Caring for gold and platinum
To clean your gold or platinum jewelry, use a small amount of Ph neutral liquid soap and brush gently with a soft-bristled brush, then rinse with room temperature water and dry with a soft, clean cloth.
STONES
Color has always been part of Hermès’ heritage, and the House selects diamonds and stones of the highest quality for its creations. Colored stones cover every shade and have their own unique personality. Used for pavé-setting or as a center stone, they enrich the creator’s color palette.
How to revive their shine
Diamonds: clean in clear, room temperature, slightly soapy water (Ph neutral soap), brush gently with a soft-bristled brush, then wipe dry with a soft, clean cloth. Other stones: all stones other than diamonds require special attention. We recommend that you take your jewelry to your Hermès store for proper care.
How to revive their shine
Pearls: pearls require special attention and care. Keep pearls away from perfume, hairspray, and cosmetics, as these can damage their surface. It is recommended to put on pearl jewelry as a last step after getting ready. After each wear, wipe your pearls with a soft, damp cloth to remove oils and residues.
Occasionally, use room temperature water with Ph neutral liquid soap for a deeper clean. To prevent scratches, store pearls separately from other jewelry in a soft-lined box or pouch.
