The story behind
The phaeton, named after the son of the solar deity in Greek mythology, was a horse-drawn vehicle that gained popularity in the late 18th century in France and England. Lightweight and easy to handle, it allowed its driver to move swiftly around town. Here, the designer Pierre Marie presents a rear perspective of the model from the Émile Hermès collection, framing its tall wheels and delicately painted decoration in the same stylized octagon as the carriage itself. A graphic mise en abyme that breathes energy and modernity into this precious carriage.
