The story behind
Midway between sculpture and functional object, these table lamps create a gentle ambient light. Reinterpreted this season in parachute canvas hand-painted with bright, contrasting colors, they create plays of light and shadow. For these three models, designer Tomas Alonso was inspired by the world of theatre and the scenery panels used in stage sets. All the technical elements are simple and visible – like stage lights – but painted black to make them discreet, thus focusing all the attention on the stage. A screen-like frame, a light source and a connecting ring in copper-plated steel shape the space. These lamps apply simple geometric forms (circles, rectangles and triangles) to play with full and empty spaces. The bamboo frames, crafted by Japanese master cabinetmakers, are extremely light.
