The story behind
The Casaque box is adorned with the "Step Pyramid" design: a colorful, graphic composition in which six step modules are repeated, inverted and moved about to create an interplay of lines and perspectives in leather marquetry. This technique demands great precision when preparing the leather pieces to ensure that they slot together to a level of tenths of a millimeter when assembled, to create a single surface despite the different grains of each leather.
